THE SONG CHARTED AT VARIOUS STAGES IN DIFFERENT STATES. IT WAS WRITTEN AND PRODUCED BY A EUROPEAN TEAM WHOSE CREDITS INCLUDE "HANDS UP" BY OTTAWAN (A FRENCH GROUP), "DISCO BOUZOUKI" BY THE GREAT DISCO BOUZOUKI BAND (A GREEK GROUP) AND OTHER DISCO HITS OF THE 1980S.
THE EXTENDED 12" VERSION OF THIS SONG HAS BEEN TRANSFERRED TO C.D. BUT THE COMMERCIAL SINGLE HAS NOT.

I am pretty sure The Great Disco Bouzouki Band were not a real Greek band but a studio project by Daniel Vangarde amongst others (who as you point out was also involved in the wonderful Ottawan project and as there is an instrumental and two English/French vocal versions of 'Hands Up' that would make a good edit but I digress...)
ReplyDeleteDaniel Vangarde's real name is Daniel Bangalter and if that name rings a bell, it should as he is the father of Thomas Bangalter, member of Daft Punk!
It is worth checking out two of my all time favourite cosmic disco tracks, the 1978 Starbow Intersidereal Message / Voyager II 12 inch he did as well as the Who's Who records (especially Palace Palace)...anyone not familiar with just how many great records he produced just check this out:
